About the Author
Søren Dosenrode is a Professor of International Politics, Jean Monnet Professor of European Studies, and Director of the Centre for Comparative Integration Studies at Aalborg University. He holds an MPhil from the University of Copenhagen, and a DPhil from the University of Zürich. Søren currently heads a research project on indicators for potential regional integration. His latest Ashgate publication was The European Union after Lisbon: Polity, Politics, Policy.

About the Author
Stephen Newbury is concept manager at Tom Walkinshaw Racing, the firm jointly responsible for such design successes as the Aston Martin DB7 and Volvo C70. He has developed concept designs for a broad range of road vehicles, from one-off supercars to lightweight, fuel-efficient vehicles, and high-volume production models.

The Perfect Yearbook for the enthusiast! 1st volume a tad Eurocentric

For car enthusiasts the world over, this is the book all of us have been waiting for. Indeed there is very little analysis, but the content is sufficient to support the real value of the book - the worldwide pictorial history of one year in the automotive industry. There is serious collector value in these books since there is nothing remotely similar.

There is also some value to the books' global perspective of the industry instead of the myriad of books which usually focus entirely on Europe or America (and the rare few that might look at native Japanese cars).

Of course, there is little attention paid to some other major markets; such as Australia, Central/South America, or Asia. There is a noticeable focus on Europe, particularly in the 1st volume. The London-based author views the industry from the perspective of his largely European audience. His perspective on the American market does provide some insight into the European viewpoint.

In the end, this isn't a book you buy for the editorial content. It's a beautiful and collectible overview for those who admire the automobile in all its international variations. While it doesn't cover everything, it does focus on most of the vehicles that interest American and European consumers.

Long on pictures; short on analysis

Given author Newberry's design responsibilities at world-famous consultancy firm Tom Walkinshaw Racing, I had hoped that this book would contain intelligent critiques of current car designs and trends. Instead, it is a collection of glossy manufacturer-supplied photos and relentlessly positive model descriptions that read like mildly reworked press releases from the factory headquarters. Perhaps Newberry's employer wouldn't let him offend any existing or potential clients but, if you are hoping for objective design analysis as opposed to a pretty summary of sales brochures, look elsewhere.

About the Author
Robert Libby is the David A. Thomas Professor of Management at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, where he teaches the introductory financial accounting course. He previously taught at the University of Illinois, Pennsylvania State University, University of Texas at Austin, University of Chicago, and University of Michigan. He received his B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and his M.A.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois; he is also a CPA. Bob is a widely published author specializing in behavioral accounting. He was selected as the AAA Outstanding Educator in 2000. His prior text, Accounting and Human Information Processing (Prentice Hall, 1981), was awarded the AICPA/AAA Notable Contributions to the Accounting Literature Award. He received this award again in 1996 for a paper. He has published numerous articles in the Journal of Accounting Research; Accounting, Organizations, and Society; and other accounting journals. He is past Vice President-Publications of the American Accounting Association and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the editorial boards of The Accounting Review; Accounting, Organizations, and Society; Journal of Accounting Literature; and Journal of Behavioral Decision Making.

Fred Phillips is a Professor and the George C. Baxter Chartered Accountants of Saskatchewan Scholar at the University of Saskatchewan, where he teaches introductory financial accounting. He also has taught introductory accounting at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Manitoba. Fred has an undergraduate accounting degree, a professional accounting designation, and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. He previously worked as an audit manager at KPMG. Fred's main interest is accounting education. He has won eight teaching awards, including two national case-writing competitions. He has published instructional cases and numerous articles in journals like Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Research, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. Fred currently serves as an associate editor of Issues in Accounting Education, and he is a member of the Teaching & Curriculum and Two-Year College sections of the American Accounting Association. In his spare time, he likes to work out, play video games, and drink iced cappuccino.

ADAPTIVE DIGITAL COMPONENT IS A MUST!!!

This book was very insightful, but what set it apart was the Connect Plus option that came with. This adaptive learning component allowed me to improve a whole letter grade. It let me know where I was in the class and what I needed to work on! I would definitely recommend this!

An inspiring story that will keep you chuckling along the way

Keeping up with the Slowpoke is a great young adult novel for those who are tired of the young adult novel. The author boldly refuses to conform to the cmmon tropes found in the genre by opting to focus on a young girl's search for purpose rather than an epic romance. I think this sends a great message to adolescent girls, who are often taught that their identity rests in their love life. Chloe Adler is an extremely strong and unique character that a reader does not come across frequently. She is not without her insecurities or faults, and she surely is not a stranger to failure. However, she faces all of these aspects of her life with unwavering courage, delivering spunky and smart commentary all along the way. This story is one that sticks with you, because not only is it fun and quirky, it confronts an unmistakeable truth about the human experience: we fail! This is something we must all come to terms with, and it can be especially difficult to do as a teenager. The author gives hope to those who may be disheartened by this fact, especially under all the pressures that come along with high school, by teaching us that by embracing our failures, we may finally succeed.

YA fiction at its most real

I just want to start off saying I love this book a lot. I grew up reading a lot of YA fiction, but none of the most popular ones I read during my time as a young adult seemed realistic. Ann Claire isn't afraid to write about the truth and how high school truly is, and without pretense. "Keeping up with the Slowpoke" takes you on a journey through a young 15 year old girl's struggle to find herself in the dog eat dog world of high school. High school isn't always sunshine and rainbows, and Claire's protagonist, Chloe, recognizes this and endures this fact through much of the story. There are a lot of obstacles in Chloe's way, but she never gives up—because life is never perfect, but all we can do is live it to the best we can. It's a beautiful message told in a poetic and hilarious way. Anyone can relate to the poetic honesty and truth offered within the pages of this book. Who better understands the complex layers of being a teenager in high school than a teenager herself? If you're tired of the typical 'girl meets boy' trope often found in YA fiction, read this book and understand the human experience told by someone who experienced it—and lived to tell the tale.
